In a significant milestone for Pakistan’s automotive industry, Nishat Motors has officially begun exporting the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The company made the announcement through a social media post, highlighting its commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s position in the global market. “By exporting Santa Fe Hybrid CBU units to Sri Lanka, we are reinforcing government policies, adhering to international standards, and contributing to Pakistan’s economic progress,” the post stated.
This achievement marks an important step toward reducing reliance on imports and fostering local manufacturing. The successful export of a locally assembled vehicle reflects the growing capabilities of Pakistan’s automotive sector and paves the way for future opportunities in international markets.
Pakistan’s Growing Automotive Exports
While Nishat Motors’ exports signal progress, it is not the only company making strides in this domain. Master Changan Motors Ltd (MCML) has also made history by becoming the first Pakistani automaker to export the locally assembled Changan Oshan X7 SUV. The company launched its export operations in October 2023 and recently dispatched 14 units to Kenya, with plans to expand into the Tanzanian market.
As part of Changan’s ambitious ‘Vast Ocean’ strategy, Master Changan Pakistan has been positioned as the brand’s right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing hub. This initiative plays a crucial role in Changan’s global expansion, targeting markets across Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The progress made by companies like Nishat Motors and Changan highlights the potential for Pakistan to emerge as a competitive player in the global automotive industry. With the right government policies, increased local production, and strategic partnerships, Pakistan’s auto sector could continue to grow and establish itself as a reliable exporter in the coming years.
